Are You Ready?

Life does hold a good amount of uncertainty. You've heard the
old saying, "The only thing you can BE SURE of is paying taxes
and dying.

What about death?
Are you sure that if you died today you would go to heaven?

Are you sure you would know what to say to God if He were to
say to you, "Why should I let you into heaven?"

The Bible tells us that you can BE SURE of going to heaven.

In order to BE SURE of going to heaven you need to know 5 things:

1. Heaven is a free gift.

Because it is free, you can't earn it by being good.
No amount of personal effort, good deeds or religious works can earn you a place in heaven.

"For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it." Ephesians 2:8,9

Why? Because. . .

2. Man is a sinner.

The Bible makes a gross accusation against all mankind. It says. . .

"Everyone has sinned and is far away from God's saving presence". Romans 3:23

Because of sin, we can not save ourselves.

There is only one standard for getting into heaven on your own.

Jesus said, "You must be perfect- just as your Father in heaven is perfect". Matt 5:48

In spite of our sinful condition. . .

3. God is Merciful and does not want to punish us.

This is because He loves us. On the other hand. . .

He is also just and therefore must punish sin.

We have a problem. . .Heaven is free but sin prevents anyone from getting there. God loves us and does not want to punish us, but He is just and must punish sin.

4. God solved the problem for us through Jesus.

Jesus was not only God's man but He was man's God.
He came down from heaven and lived a sinless life.
He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose from the dead to purchase a place for us in heaven.

Jesus paid the punishment for each and every one of us. He now offers eternal life (heaven) as a free gift.

But as with any gift, you must receive it in order to possess it. The gift of eternal life is received by. .

5. Faith.

Saving Faith is the key that opens the door to heaven.

Many people mistake 2 things for saving faith.
One is faith based upon intellectual assent. In other words, believing in the historical facts about Jesus will not get you into heaven.
Neither will temporal faith, which means trusting God for things such as financial, family or physical needs.

Saving Faith is trusting Jesus Christ ALONE for eternal life.

"Believe (trust) in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. . ." Acts 16:31

If this makes sense to you then you can go to God right now in prayer and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Say this prayer and BE SURE that you mean it.

You then can BE SURE you will go to heaven.

Lord Jesus Christ, I know that I am a sinner and can not get into heaven without you. I believe you died and rose from the grave to purchase a place for me in heaven. Lord Jesus, come into my life; take control of my life; forgive my sins; and save me. I repent of my sins and now place my trust in you for my salvation. I now accept the free gift of eternal life and submit myself to you as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
